Ghous Narejo

I am a visiting professor of Electronic Engineering with over 35 years of experience spanning industrial power engineering, academic leadership, and research. I hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University, USA, where I graduated as Best Graduate Medalist, an ME in Electronic Engineering (Microelectronics) from NED University of Engineering & Technology, and a BE in Electronic Engineering from Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, where I graduated as Best Graduate Gold Medalist.

I began my career as a Power Engineer with WAPDA/HESCO (1991–1999) before moving into academia. I served as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Electronic Engineering at NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, from 2001 to 2026, and currently hold visiting professorships at Bahria University and Dawood University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi.

My research spans four interconnected areas: renewable energy systems and islanded microgrid control; biomedical signal processing and AI-assisted cancer diagnostics; ultra-low-power analog circuit design for wearable healthcare devices; and first-principles computation of perovskite and oxide materials. My current theoretical work explores spin–strain coupling in halide perovskites, with potential applications in spintronics and chargeless sensors. I have supervised six PhD scholars, co-edited the book Microgrids: Design, Challenges, and Prospects (2022), contributed chapters to a CRC Press volume on IoT security and AI in healthcare, and published in journals including Battery Energy, Chemical Physics Letters, Current Medical Imaging Reviews, Advanced Biomedical Engineering, and Wireless Personal Communications. I am a Member of IEEE and a Registered Engineer with the Pakistan Engineering Council.
